Description:

"Snorting Charlie" features colourful characters like "Tommy the Hat" a "founder member of the Villains Association for the Creation of Work for Policemen" and Big Phil, the landlord at the Three Legs of Man who "has a good head on his shoulders, keeps his ears very much to the ground and his mouth shut – all of which takes some doing.”

"Manchester Crime Wave" marks the fact that there are more crime writers in the North of England than anywhere else in Britain, reflected in the facat that a Manchester high street bookshop sells more crime fiction than any other genre.

"Snorting Charlie" is written and read by Mike Harding, who was born in Manchester. After working as a navvy, bus conductor, dustbin-man and carpet-fitter, he gained a degree in English and Education at Manchester University. He paid his way through college by playing the folk clubs and bars of the country, and by accident, propelled into the world of stand-up comedy. One critic has called him the ‘grandfather of alternative comedy in Britain’. He is also a playwright, poet and author.
