Matras do occasionally make it into the British classic car press, here are a few articles to keep an eye out for:
Auto Express 5-11th January 2000 - The new Matra P72 microcar, with spy shots.
Classic Cars July 1999 - Lotus Europa v Matra 530 - Battle of the off the wall sports cars. Features John Allen's 530A. An interesting article with an agreeable verdict!
Classic Cars November 1999 - More for your wedge - Lotus Excel v Alfa GTV6 v Murena - buy yourself a bargain. Some interesting comparisons, features Roy Gillards exceptional low mileage Murena.
Practical Classics November 1999 - Mid engined comparison - X19 V MR2 V Montecarlo V VW/Porsche 914/6 V Murena - Has the details of each car but draws no comparisons apart from performance figures etc (I was surprised that the Murena was faster than the MR2 - maybe the original is best?). Features Richard Elliots Murena 2.2. I like his comment about his Bagheera project - is there anyone in the club without a Bagheera in bits in the garage?
Classic and Sportscar March 1999 - In depth article on the D'Jet. Features a D'Jet 6 and some interesting photos.
Autosport 25th February 1999 - Includes an article by Jackie Stewart about his '69 World Championship in the MS80. Volume 154 number 8
Classic and Sportscar May 1997 - Driving six of the best middies. Features John Allan's 530 and an AC 3000 ME, Fiat X/19, VW-Porsche 914, Lotus Europa twin cam special and Lancia Montecarlo. The writer has excellent taste, his favourite being the 530.
Auto Collection No 42 - Current French booklet series, this one is on the Djet but has a little info on other Matra's. Definately worth picking one up next time you're in France.
